Re: Jakarta Info

2 Bombs exploded at the Hotel Marriot and the Ritz Carlton at around 0750hrs this morning.

The first bomb exploded at the restaurant lobby in JW Marriot and about 5 mins later the second bomb exploded at the Ritz Carlton Restaurant which is a sister hotel jsut 50meters away. Both hotels are located at the Mega Kuningan roundabout area.

More dead took place at the marriot whereby upto 6 dead were reported. Several bules were among the dead. Over at the Ritz Carlton 2 dead were reported. Upto 50 people were injured many by glass sharpnels and broken plates caused by the explosion.

For the Marriot hotel this is the 2nd time the hotel was bombed.

Both the bombs exploded at the restaurants where guests have their breakfast. Fotrunately at that hour, not too many guests were present at the restaurant otherwise more dead or injured may have occurred.

Both the bombs contained high explosives and appeared to be around 20 - 30 kg sized. Glass windows along the Ritz Carlton at the lobby area stretching to the restaurants were shattered. The damaged here appeared more extensive than at the Marriot.

Upto this point of time, the roads leading to the hotels have been sealed as police found another unexploded bomb in one of the hotel rooms. It was believed that the bombs would have been planted by hotel guests. Suicide bombing is suspected responsible for one of the hotels blast.

Re: Jakarta's trip

Visiting Jakarta this coming week.

How about a Top 3 list of venues to check out.
maybe a brief description?

With BKK there's Soi Cowboy, Nana , etc.

What About Jakarta?

Re: Jakarta Info

After going thru some many pages of this thread I am suffering a little from info overload esp for someone who do not know Jakarta at all.

What would Jakarta expert here recommend to be the top 3 places to check out?
Reasonable rates for takeout and or other entertainment like go-go-bar.

I can gladly share info on BKK but no clue about Jakarta and going there this coming week. July 20-26

Re: Jakarta Info

Thanks for all the info above.

What might each of the venue be?
go go bar?
KTV?
HC?

Bloc M is that a entertainment complex like say some plaza with lots of different joints in them or a single establishment?

Confirm my hotel - Acacia Jalan Kramat Raya 73 - 81, Jakarta, Java 10450, Indonesia.

Is it close to any of the recommended establishments?

HI bro,
You are in between both places, take a taxi blue bird if possible, and go to Block M or Kota if is about 30mins in good traffic.
My humble two cents.
