the next thing is they always like to refer to SAD as CRY (in mandarin). My wife told me when we were first together that her father CRIED a lot in order to be with her mother. After hearing that, i thought why Vietnamese man are so GU NIANG, cry here and cry there...., i thought they only good at drinking coffee and do nothing else... wah... damm good at crying also

AWKT, I think one of the best way to learn a language is to practise it. Ask your Vietnamese girlfriend to speak English to any one. Practise it with her. Watch the English language TV channels. There are Vietnamese-English and vice versa books in the public libraries. Try to limit her time chatting in Vietnamese. All the best to her.

quite true,in school u can learn how to speak but if outside dont dare to speak cos scare ppl laugh, still LPPL.somemore learn in those school is not cheap.

my wife always told me she not scare or shy when ppl laugh at her when she spoke wrongly so for her is she learn through outside society.it really depends on your girlfriend but if she is those shy type one,u might want her to enrol in a school first.if she learn in viet school even though is cheap there, she might not learn fast cos when out of school, she will certainly talk viet again but in sg,she is expose to either english or chinese.

you have to be very patient to help her learn not like me lazy to teach my wife and everytime kana scold by her why i no teach her more btw, viet can pick up a language quite fast cos i know some of her friend who came to sg without knowing how to speak a single word of english or chinese but after 1 year, they know how to speak chinese by watching mediacorp chinese drama at home hahaha
