Here is some info if you are cheonging in Jakarta, I gather this info not my writing.

Blok M
You will find around a dozen small bars on Jalan Pelatehan. D`s Place, Top Gun and My Bar were the most popular bars when I visited Blok M the last time. English language is no problem here because the owners of the bars target their places mainly to the expat community. No need to come to Blok M before 8pm and even that is probably to early. I had the feeling that most of the freelance girls do not arrive earlier than 9 or 10pm. On any given day you will find at least 100 Indonesian girls there to meet potential customers. I did not find most of the girls too attractive but it`s possible to find a gem or two. A big plus is that girls are used to foreigners and most of them can follow a basic conversation in English.

Prices for ST or an over-night action vary greatly and depend on your age, appearance and experience. Some girls are dreaming of 500,000 IDR (US$55) but should be easily negotiated down to 300,000 IDR in some cases. I am not the biggest fan of Blok M but you should at least have seen it once when you are in Jakarta. If your hotel is located in the Kota area then its necessary to use a taxi to get to Blok M. Make sure you use a Blue Bird taxi as they are known to use their meters correctly and not ripping off their customers. Fare from Kota should run around 50,000 IDR (US$5,5). Some of the taxis that wait outside the bars for customers use rigged meters. It is a good idea to negotiate a fare back to your hotel.

We are always discussing about Jakarta inner city activities, here is some fun location to explore in and surrounding areas.

Anyer resort beach 160 Km west of Jakarta. Driving time: up to 4 hours.
Bandung — some 140 km southeast of Jakarta, full of universities and famous for both its food and its fashion markets. Driving time: 2-2.5 hours (through Cipularang toll road). X-Trans shuttle transport depart hourly from several location for Rp 80000.
Bogor — cooler climes and a beautiful botanical garden an hour away. Several great Golf courses are located in Bogor. Sentul A1 Race Circuit is located in Citeurerup, Bogor. Express train takes a bit over an hour, economy a little longer. (Waiting and train cancellations are the bigger issue.) Driving time: up to 2 hours. On weekend, the trip may take up to 3 hours by road, and the trains can be crowded.
Puncak cooler climes and beautiful view of tea plantation. Taman Safari Wildlife Recreational Park, Jalan Raya Puncak 601, Cisarua, Bogor, 16750. 70 km south of Jakarta. Driving time: up to 2 hours.
Ujung Kulon National Park, a beautiful national park, southwest of Jakarta. Driving time: up to 5 hours.

Halai, in Ancol is an expensive joint. The chinese tante patronising there are usually from the middle income family. Very snobbish lot. I prefer the local Indonesian gers. I find them more charming and easier to "fish". At least their expectations not too high.

A little info for travelling in Jakarta.

Stay healthy

Tap water in Jakarta is not drinkable. Always drink bottled water. If buying bottled water from a street vendor always check the 'tamper proof' seal is intact.
Remember to check the water you bathe in and only brush your teeth with drinkable water.
According to World Health Organization (WHO), Jakarta is the 3rd most polluted city in the world after Mexico City and Bangkok.
During rainy season (December, January, February), lower parts of Jakarta (mostly those to the north) are often flooded.
There is a law against smoking at public places in Jakarta, and the smoker can (in theory) be fined up to US$5000. You may see the signs threatening a fine (denda) of 50 million rupiah or 6 months jail for smoking, although that law seems not to be enforced, as locals still smoke everywhere on the street and even in local buses, as anywhere in Indonesia. It's generally prohibited to smoke, however, inside shops, offices, and air-conditioned buildings generally. If in doubt, you can ask locals: Boleh merokok?
