I'm starting a new thread here to talk about issues you may have when travelling overseas to cheong.

Another member here contacted me about recently being detained on suspicion of smuggling, when in fact it was just a mongering trip, and he didnt tell this to Immigration for fear of arrest/detention. He was held for a number of hours, strip search, interrogated by multiple officers, had his HP and tablet reviewed where they found pics and XXX and condoms. Ultimately he was let go but a humilating and tiring ordeal we should try avoid.

I suggest you post the immigration issue within the city or country you visiting...dun think this thread will be sustainable since topic is so wide...

Most samsters prefer to discuss immigration issue of that particular city or country within its own thread...

As far as I know, anybody can be detain on probable cause in any country for smuggling.....Local or foreigners!!!
On a separated issue, you for any reason if you are caught with porn on you, I think the Indonesia have a law about pornography and prono(action)....this is an Indonesian made up word....
Is any action that they deem sleazy...you might be breaking the law...

Talking about immigration issue. I have been requested coffee money multiple times when entering Indonesia via new cities. VIETNAM and Cambodia also, It was really annoying and I am really pissed off sometimes. Any good solution other than act blur and wait before a long queue?

Immigration and customs are related bodies. Both can ask you questions and share info and can admit, detain, or deny you entry. In this case, the person was detained by customs, and question by them and immigration i believe. Anyways, immigration always ask your purpose of trip, and we cant say "for sex" in many countries where prostitution illegal.

I have only been asked this in CAmbodia, and refuse, which delay my Visa processing. I am worried about bribing Immigration in airport where cameras are there, and dont think i would risk it. In many countries 'bribing' an officer is an offense and crime, not worth it. Im interested to know if anyone ever give Kopi in Indo money to Officer, and what happened.

Since there's a few bros who suffered some mishaps in their travel on the mentioned topic,i'd suggest to allow the thread to be around for a month or 2,& once they were deem unsustainable (or goes out of topic/tcss),merge it with the Indonesia TCSS thread instead. It's always good to be given a heads up for travelers,so as to avoid unpleasant surprises.

I believe the key is sustainability & avoid running a new thread that may spun out of topic,lack of control ,ending w tcss etc in the long run. More importantly,unlike Singapore,other Asian countries have many airports on an international level in different cities & the same issue encountered may not happen to every city's airport in a traveled to destination.

So it'd work better to share a particular issue which one encounters from a particular city in a particular city's thread instead so those who traveled there could be pre-warn in advance & who knows,some1 may provide a solution or a timely advice. Either way,starting a new thread isn't wrong too. The key is to get the message of an experience across.

I ever spent 3 years in KL without a visa, so I have to drive down to JB custom and chop passport every 30 days. The standard procedure is to put RM30 in my passport. There is this once when I U-turn into jb custom this officer with a very stern face ask me why money in the passport. My balls dropped. I apologise and took out the money. Then he look at my super long stay and suddenly brighten up... oh... itu wang utuk saya ke? I told him ye bang... He say 50 ringgit boleh tak? He ask me put the money again and cut the queue straight to his counter. He repeated, Jangan pergi counter lain... KNN... scare the shit out of me!

This was in 2003-2005 lah... Now still can or not I don't know.

Even one is "clean", chances of been stop by immigration is common and random.

I travel a lot n my luggage is always store with condoms. I was stopped by the immigration in Melbourne and Perth. Full search of my luggage, simply pour all items out and saw my condoms n started asking stupid questions. They were amused to see a box of 12 condoms n I had to educate them, I practice safe sex. Both cases they let me go after finding nothing.

I traveled to New York just after 911, just stamped my passport and I was thru. I have not encounter any problem when traveling in Asia.

Best to cooperate with all the countries immigration if you are visiting their countries...also I dun agree to bribe...

We should know what is allowed and what not allowed in all countries you are visiting and no point to argue...
