When I was 18, I did not remember I was putting my family before myself first. I was living alone and spending money like nobody's business. Skipping school and loitering at malls and not thinking about my future.

You, in my opinion, have matured and developed a set of responsible thinking at age 18. The problem with you is that you are too impatient, too kan-cheong, and want to see results fast.

Like all the bros here mentioned, there is no secret to success! How are we to give you an answer to your questions? Really, you just have to work hard at whatever you are doing.

Making decisions is important too. You have been asking whether you should go back to studies and perhaps obtain a diploma or degree. Or whether you should study business management etc. Truth is, it doesn't matter what you study. If you are not smart enough to apply what you have studied, it all comes back to square 1. If you are accepted into that course, but you choose to take it easily, you will not pass your exams and you will not have learned anything.

I believe there are people all over the world, who are successful businessmen with or without degrees. Even in Asia, like who Bro gilagila listed (Uncle Lim of Genting Highlands, Lee Ka Shing of Hongkong). It is not a yes or no answer whether a degree is going to make you rich or not. It is "MAKING THE BEST OUT OF THE SITUATION YOU ARE IN".

So, bottomline is, whatever you are going to choose to do, make damn sure you excel in it. When you excel in something you are doing, no one can say anything bad about you because they can see you put in your heart and soul into achieving the success. But the world is always cruel when you do not excel in something you choose to do. That is when people start to say you are a loser, you are a good-for-nothing, you can never succeed at anything you do.

So it's your move now. The ball is in your court. Make a choice. No one can tell you where to go. Just make sure you EXCEL in the choice you made, so that it will be regarded as a success. And you will be on the way to being wealthy, and provide a good life for your family.

you read like a guy who is in a hurry to find success... whether it is monetary, material or just being able to give your loved ones a good life...

this is something i have gathered... the harder you look for success, the harder it is to find it...

instead, find and do something that you find meaningful... something that you look forward to every day, you wake up thinking that you want to do... do that and success will find you... that is the same for Gates, Li Ka Shing, Uncle Lim and everyone else.. regardless of which era they were born.

Some people have found their calling in sales (insurance, property, garang guni, etc etc)... some have found it in serving someone's needs... few have found success and happiness in seeking money for the sake of money, if you get my drift.

Successful businessmen start with a passion for their business, not a passion for being a businessman. See the difference?

Where do you start? Talk to someone older who knows you well and you trust ... get their opinion of what type of person you are.

Recall the things that you have done that have given you a sense of satisfaction... be it CCA in school, activities during the holidays or your favourite past time (apart from SammyBoy)... think along those lines for a career option.

BTW - marketing is a subset of business management.

but anyway...my advise for him is..most girls i talk to actually dont rank looks as high as guys do..

its more of personality as well as money that attracts gals..

our looks is something we cant do much about...

what we CAN build on is our personality, general knowledge and humour..

general knowledge will allow you to carry on a conversation with any gal...cos you know whats happening around you..and who knows? that might impress...

humour and wit to tease without offending...make the gal laugh...get her comfortable..and you might have a chance to strike..

Getting a job is a good way to let you know money doesnt come easily. So what if they are from the 60s and 70s? IF you feel that starting a business is very risky, go and work under your father's company or what to see how it goes, if it suits you den good otherwise no harm gaining experience.

Success doesnt come by just saying, i wan to be successful, i wan to be rich. NOnoNo it doesnt much happen that way, otherwise there would be too many rich and successful people around.

Just take a look at those footballer, not all of them have a degree but look at the amount of money they are earning. find something that u excel in or really have interest in and work towards building ur career on it. With a little bit of luck, you will have ur lucky break.

Guys goes for look and figure most of them...So you can say we guys go for the outer beauty whereas girls just want a guy to be faithful to them and more importantly a good heart(inner beauty). So what if you're ugly or really dam yandao? After 200 years all will look the same..Black or white or yellow or brown, we will all be white skeleton after our body decomposes...
