Thumbs up Malaysia boleh - Anti Corruption officers arrested by Polis

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

Arrest of MACC officers jeopardises investigation, says deputy chief

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner (prevention) Datuk Mustafar Ali (pic) said the arrest of its officers by the police had to some extent jeopardised investigation on SRC International Sdn Bhd (SRC) and the RM2.6-billion fund issue.

"During an investigation when action is taken on an investigating officer, it somewhat jeorpardises the investigation," he told reporters at the MACC Special Operations Division office here on Thursday.

He said the arrest of an investigating officer would jeopardise the investigation process as some equipment like laptops and documents would be taken away by the police.

Asked about the period of the investigation, Mustafar said he could not say when the investigation would be completed but "in undertaking our transparent and professional action, we surely want to implement our work as smoothly as possible".

"That is our role based on the standard operating procedure and so on but after we complete the probe, we will surely submit the papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further action," he said. - Bernama
