A Singapore gifted student who started sleeping around at the age of 16 was discovered to have AIDS during a routine medical examination for entry into a top U.S. University which rejected his application due to his medical condition.

According to a report by Chinese tabloid Shin Min Daily, the gifted student started having sex when he was only 16 years old which infuriated his parents who sent him to see a psychiatrist.

The boy refused treatment as he believed that it was “impossible” for him to get any STDs as he took protective measures during every sexual encounter.

The number of cases of STDs in Singapore has risen from about 11,000 in 2006 to 12,300 in 2008, with gonorrhoea, non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU) and syphilis being the three main STIs, a trend described by Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan as “especially alarming”.

Mr Khaw said that his ministry has worked with several organisations on programmes to address the rising trend of STIs among youths.

haha....i was also a gifted student...hmm...this was really common from top boys schs like mine.... yup its scary... lucky i did not get it when i was 16....
