SINGAPORE: Police will bring charges against the licensee of a budget hotel for knowingly facilitating vice activities within the hotel's premises.

When a check on the hotel along Kitchener Road was conducted on April 10, two female foreigners believed to be involved in vice activities were arrested.

Police said they were found in the company of their male clients in the room and were believed to be offering sexual services for a fee.

Investigations revealed that the hotel staff had knowingly allowed the female foreigners to ply their trade within the hotel's premises.

This was a breach of the Hotels Licensing Regulations.

The licensee of the hotel is due to appear in court on Wednesday.

A licensee who is convicted for failing to comply with this provision is liable to be fine not exceeding S$1,000.

For a second or subsequent conviction it's a fine not exceeding S$2,000.

In addition, the court may cancel or suspend any certificate of registration and may cancel any licence granted.

Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ng Boon Gay said this is a landmark case, showing the resolve of the Police to tackle vice from all angles.

Police said there has been no let up in its enforcement efforts against vice activities island-wide.

A total of 7,614 female foreigners were arrested island-wide for vice-related activities in 2009, as compared with 5,047 arrests in 2008. - CNA/vm

then many budget hotels will get into trouble. no need to be rocket scientist to guess what those so called 'transit hotels' offer in their premises. of cos when interrogated, licensee will juz bak bodo, feint innocence.

I think only wayang only. Don't think they can do that totally.

If they really want to charge budget hotels, then by right the kovan ones would be charged already.

Doesn't that mean that it's fine if it's along the streets? The hotel people should know better than to let chickens into their coop.

yalor. i think at most slap the licensee with an ant-bite fine. our budget hotels are ruled by fragrance n H81. dun thk authorities will go to d extend to offend/embarass d owners by investigating all their joints.

Bros...from the sound of it... this one sound like those FLs who eat, work, sleep and stay at the hotel 24hrs type ba....those that the okt tell u which room to go type..... its effectively housing a brothel in the hotel.....

Dun think it will affect those who call and order for the FL to turn up in your room...

if they spot d same girl checking in (could be same or diff rooms) at diff times of the day with diff guys lor.

other than that, hotel got no right to question a couple who wanna book a room juz for a few hrs worr.

Maybe this commissioner Boon Gay is a gay and only allows gays to ply their trades in the hotel. I don't know...

I think if the authorities ban hourly rated hotels, it may be the end of the PRC streetwalker and PRC massuse era. Why will they continue to come over if they can't earn a decent amount of $$$ in their short time here...?

If you read the recent news - kovan, this one, change v, geylang etc, there seems to be ongoing massive raids.

together with news to up cpf, lower transport fee etc, there is quite clear the e-day is coming soon. Even opp are gearing up and can be seen more frequently in various estates.

All must be careful for the next 2 months. If e-day is coming, as history tell us, there would be operation going on.

Quite true.. basically, if I book the room. There is no rule stating that my guest cannot visit me in the room, only rule is they should not stay overnite.

I mean, if I really like... I can also book a room and hire a beautician to give me a make-over in the room mah.. also FL...

Everything is legal... juz like if I had no hanky-panky massages.

Key thing is sexual services....other services should be okie so long as they are legal... So......... if u happen to fall in love or lust with your beautician then ...hohohooh
