THE boy was nine when he started talking about sex with his tutor.

During a tuition session in his bedroom, the boy told the 36-year-old man that he was curious about men's genitals.

Two months later, when his tutor went to the toilet, the boy followed, pushing the door open to enter the toilet. He initiated sex with the man, who then allowed the boy to perform oral sex on him. This was repeated four more times over the next three months.

On Monday, the tutor, who cannot be not named to protect the identity of the boy, was sentenced to six year's jail and six strokes of the cane.

However, in sentencing, High Court judge Kan Ting Chiu said this case was different from the typical sex abuse case in which the adult offender is the one who initiates the sex act. 'One peculiar fact is that the boy is the initiator,' said the judge.

Justice Kan sentenced him to three years' jail and three strokes of the cane on each of the two charges he had pleaded guilty to, with the two terms to run consecutively.

Sometimes I wonder where he got such ideas. I doubt that he learn it in sex education in school. But then again we must not underestmate the power of our youths today.

me too. I think 6 years and 6 strokes is too heavy ! Afterall, he did not rape the boy ! He did not force the boy to do anything, the boy did it willingly.

I guess he suay to be sentenced by a lady judge. His lawyer did not do a good job.... sigh....

Home tuition is dangerous. I used to give tuition during my NS days, I remember when I was teaching a Pri 5 gal, I also have abit of evil thoughts, but luckily I managed to control myself. Nothing evil happenned.

This kind of things cannot play play, especially in Singapore. The punishment is too heavy. If horny, better go for proper commercial transaction

he has gotten off with a lighter sentence! this is true according to the papers. for me as a father i will like to see him get at least 10 years. i admit that as parents we have heavy responsibilities on educating our children, but he shouldn’t bleach that trust that parents have in him as a teacher.
