Dear The Real Singapore,

I just came across this article I found on the web. It’s about how a foreign feel working in Singapore: http://www.quora.com/What-does-it-fe...k-in-Singapore

One wonders what contribution this foreigner and those like him has to make to Singapore. He “don’t work directly with Singaporeans for the most part”, nor “do much work for Singaporean companies”. In short, he is isolated pretty much in his expat circle, contributing nothing to Singapore.

How does this foreigner help to create jobs for Singaporeans?

Seems like he is here just to avoid taxes (see his points 1 and 2). Also contributing the breakdown of social fabric and general moral decency (see his point 8):
“My single — or at least single-in-Singapore — acquaintances tell me that it’s pretty amazingly easy to be an ex-pat and have a fulfilling and varied sex life. Singaporean men don’t get good reviews from the local women apparently, and ex-pats do.”
“Singapore is an amazing, modern and vibrant city. It tops most lists for ex-pats most years for a reason,” he concludes.
Foreigners create jobs instead of taking jobs away from Singaporeans?

Doesn’t seem like it.

Douglas
