Ah Neh FT Needs Job! Will Offer Bribe! Any lobang?
An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
It’s taken from a closed group on Facebook called “Job kang-Tao (SG)”. The group has some 7750 members. The objective of forming the group is listed as [Link]: “It’s a closed group on fb with 7750 members. It is to share lobangs and job opportunities in Singapore.” An Indian national by the name of Vj Sharma posted a request in the group. He said that he has “done” a “Bachelor of Science, Computer in Information Technology”. He used to work for a Singapore company on S-Pass (minimum salary requirement – $2,200). However, the company was closed down and as such, he became jobless. He said, “My company closed so that’s why they cutted (sic) my S_Pass.” He’s currently looking for a job in Singapore and asked if any company has the necessary S-Pass quota to hire him. Amazingly, he said he can pay cash of $4-5K for “any kind of job”. He said he can pay DIRECTLY to the hiring company or through an agent. It’s not known if he is currently in Singapore or India. According to MOM [Link], companies are not supposed to receive “employment kickbacks” from employees whom they hire. The penalty is a fine of up to $30,000 and/or imprisonment term of up to 2 years. MOM further stated: “MOM is aware that various persons such as errant employers, HR staff, construction sub-contractors, etc may attempt to collect payments from foreign workers as consideration for employment, i.e. “employment kickbacks”. These are often made in cash to avoid detection by the authorities. To address such abuses, MOM will include a presumption clause to deem that any monies collected from foreign workers are prohibited payments, collected as consideration for employment, unless the purposes for which they were collected can be accounted for. For instance, the presumption can be rebutted if the employer proves that the collection was for authorised deductions under the Employment Act or fees that a licensed employment agency may lawfully charge the foreign worker under the Employment Agencies Act.” In essence, Mr Sharma’s offer of $4-5K to any Singapore employer to hire him is considered illegal. By definition, it is an “employment kickbacks”. Following is his Facebook page [Link]. He said he graduated from Punjab Technical University in 2007: On his Facebook page, photos of him in Singapore can be seen. Searching though the Internet, he was seen posted the following last year [Link]: One netizen asked, “Wonder if he paid off for his degree the same way he thought he can bribe for a job.” Another said, “Govt should investigate this. Since his S Pass had been cut(ted) means he is on social visit pass now. He shouldn’t be advertising for a job as it violates the Immigrations Acts for seeking employment on Social Visit pass. That’s a crime. On top of it, he is willing to pay $4k- $5k means he ‘bought’ his previous S- Pass permit. Gain employment not through his merit but by monetary terms.” Yet another asked, “Shall we allow Mr Vijay Sharma from India to snatch a job from a Singaporean through such despicable means?” What do you think? http://www.tremeritus.com/2015/01/25...r-to-hire-him/ Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
