Carousell e-commerce scams jump 136% in first half of 2018: Police

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

The number of e-commerce scams on online marketplace app Carousell jumped a whopping 136 per cent in the first half of this year, the Singapore police said on Thursday (Aug 23).

A total of 1,020 cases of people being scammed on Carousell were reported between January and June, up from 432 in the same period last year.

Eighty per cent of all e-commerce scams reported took place on Carousell, with common transactions involving electronic items, as well as tickets to events and attractions...
